Abandonment problems?

My brother and I was adopted. I was 5 and he was 7 because my real mom and was found to be a unfit mother and my dad was found unfit too. I was taken away from both of them and were abusive. My brother ually abused me from 5 until 16 when I ran away from home. I went to a place called safe place. When I ran away my adoptive parents didn't even come look for me. My parents came to counseling sessions @ safe place The counselor sent us to family court and the juge charged my adoptive parents with neglegence. I asked my adoptive mom why she couldn't love me like my friends and their moms and she said because they had had them and I didn't have you like they had their child (refering to the word birth). I told my adoptive parents that my brother was ually abusing me and the counselor told them to not blame me for the abuse and my dad did!!! I was so hurt. well from there I moved into one of my friends family and my adoptive parents paid them child support untill I was 18 I found out later they just wanted me there for the check and told me once I was 18 that I had to pay them ro live there So I moved in with my teacher in high school and she put me down and said I wasn't smart enough to get into the college I wanted to get into so I moved out and went to college that I want to get into with two of my friends then they wanted to move to another state and I didn't want to so I moved in with a guy from my church he was 17 years older then me and we fell in love and I thought wow I will finally have a family Well he started to get controling and putting his hands on me and taking my money where I couldn't leave if I wanted to. he asked me to get married to me and I said yes because I was afraid if I said no he would kick me out and I would have no place to go and I thought if we got married he would stop controling me and would love me so I married him and I went to a trade school and one of my friends there said I could live with her So I moved out of my husbands house into her house I filed for a divorce...4 months later my instructor @ school told me to meet a guy she said was really nice and that I would like well by that time I had a car and had moved out of my friends house and had a apartment well I met the guy my insructor told me to meet and he was really nice we lived an hour away from each other we drove back and forth to see each other well one day on my way back from his house I got in wreck and this guy totaled my car and left so I filed a hit and run so I lost my car my job and apartment I was so upset so he told me to move in with him and I did I am really happy with him but my situation is I don't like to depend on pple because i am always afraid of someone making me feel unwanted and don't want me anymore. I met my real family and they showed me they didn't much intrest in wanting to meeting me when I did. I'm offering advice for owners of dogs with large rib cages?

During a recent visit to the vet with one of my dogs I was told by the vet that as he has a huge rib cage (he's German Shepherd - Irish Wolfhound cross) it's a bad idea to feed him then take him for a walk immediatly afterwards (ideally wait 2 hours) as it can cause the stomach to twist, and this can be fatal for the dog within half an hour. It's due to the movement of the dog and the movement of the stomach digesting the food. Apparantly dogs with large rib cages (whether they're Wolfhound or Daschund) are at danger of suffering this ailment and I wondered if any owners of these breeds knew about it? Apparently it's the most common cause of after hours veterinary emergency, at my local vets at least. Although, having said that, my dog has been fine for 7+1/2 years.

Would my martial art be any help to me in a real fight?

I take a form of karate called t.a.m.a( total aproach to martial arts) in boston m. It is not very traditional and infact it is more like a hybrid or mixed martial arts. There is not just a lot of kicks and punches, but a bunch of grappling and takedowns. The school allows for a lot of sparring to take place with gloves and protection. I also do amature wrestling and i have done a few techniques in my sparring( i aslo do a lot of sparring without protection but with gloves, and i do it with a bunch of friends). But what i want to know is that when i have to fight someone who wants to d me harm will this help me. Will i have an edge because of my martial arts traing, or will adrenaline just make me forget all i have learned and fight more like a drunk than a martial artist. I’ve got a 92 mercury sable that I just bought, the mechanic said after a inspection that I needed the following things done. p/s, brake, trans. fluid, all flushed. The serpentine belt is cracked, a leaky soft plug. Spark plugs, fuel filter, 2ndary ignition, pcv, should all be replaced. Along with motor mount and inner tie rod ends, he also said the shocks and struts might need attention soon but not immediately. I don’t really notice any steering problems, but the car is new to me. And I’m not sure that I don’t need all this… but I have to do this a couple of trips for lack of cash. I thought fluid flush and serpentine belt should be the first things what else would be accessible and should be done at the same time.

So, it is my 4th day of cycling a fish tank doing the fishless method. I put pure ammonia in there (I'm sure I used the right kind of pure ammonia with no substrates, dyes, and perfume, etc) and so far it has only been cloudy. I heard that the cloudiness is a sign of a bacteria bloom, but I really want this to hurry up. I know I need to be patient, but I heard that Biozyme will fasten the cycle. Is that true? Will it still work if I already put in pure ammonia? The ammonia level now is high, and I have no nitrites nor nitrates. From personal experience, how did putting the biozyme in ur tank work out? and how long did it take for u fish tnak to be fully cycled? Also is it safe to put Biozyme when I put pure ammonia a few days ago?

Remodeled with a completely new shower last September. Recently the grout, an expensive kind with claims as to no staining and mildew resistant, started changing colors, from white to brown, was originally Buff which is bone to tan color, and it also started coming out of the grout joints in chunks, off many floor spots. Called the contractor, he admitted problem, no problem fixing. Sub-contractor says it's only a shower floor problem where water sits and says the company making the grouts says the same. One chunk came out of the wall above the shower bench and grout 2 inches above the floor is changing color along with grout along the edge of the floor coming out heavily. Floor slant to drain is perfect. Sub-contractor does not want to remove wall grout, nor ceiling grout. Says that will be fine even though I point out the changes above the floor. Removing wall and ceiling grout will take a long time since it's not yet saturated with the problem. Sub-contractor keeps trying to talk me out of removing grout not on the floor yet he does not plan to use the same product when the grout is replaced but instead regular grout with a sealant. Bad grout is bad grout. I want all replaced, don't care that they will use the old reliable grout, and the main contractor has no problem having it all replaced. My view is the ceiling and wall grout will eventually fall apart but just may take longer. Sub-contractor just doesn't want the tedious job of removal. How would you feel about the grout in your shower if you were in my position? Just want to let the Sub know others points of view. Thanks!

Do you think I handled my situation correctly?

There's this guy from NJ that Ive liked for a few years (I live in NY) and we've been talking on and off for a few years, I always wanted to make him my bf but there was always an excuse for why not on his part. So I sucked it up and continued as we were, but eventually ended up dating other people to move on, but always ended back with this guy. Long story short I even left my last bf due to empty hopes and promises this guy give me, and I found out through facebook that he's been talking to this girl from FL who he's never met like crazy always flirting and shes always commenting how she loves him, calls him her future husband, befriended his brother and best friend calling them her future brother in law and cousin, etc. Gross, and they encourage her, I confronted him about it and says shes no one just strictly facebook friends. Yet she makes it clear they talk on the phone and f.b. all the time, marks him as her property and one day says she cant wait to meet her future husband soon, when he comes to hang out in FL for vacation. Today I got fed up with lies from him telling me he likes me and all, shes no one, him wanting to "hang out" this week yet been so flirty with his *future wife* online. So I commented on that girl, and my guy's best friend's picture that they together in FL this week (best friend there visiting and hanging with that girl for the first time) and said "And that's why your "future husband" is trying to "chill" with me 2 in the morning and today? ;] **** you Jose trying to play games with me and this girl, I'm done peace. The best friend tried to save my guy's behind by calling me a liar and the girl commented wow that's all I have to say. I'm sad at the fact that I truly liked this guy and I most likely lost him forever but relieved that I killed his game trying to play me and her. Now I can start the healing process and hopefully meet a guy one day that isn't a dill hole lol. what do you guys think?

Beginning to not stand my friend(s)?

I have two friends that I used to be really close with a while back, and the two weren't very close. Then, all of a sudden, they became (almost obsessively) close. One of the girls, I'll call her Betty, is a very insecure, self-centered girl that tries to put on a front of concietedness, but I see through it. She always finds ways to insult me backhandedly, and it's obvious she has a LOT of jealousy problems. However, she expects me to be a good friend to her when she ditched me and completely clashes with my personality. She has moved about an hour away from where I live, but she is still all over my facebook feed, and twitter,and social gatherings, and I feel like I just can't get away without some sort of confrontation. The other girl, I'll call her Lea, is one of those people that just irk me to oblivion. She is HUGELY hypocritical, even to the point that she accuses OTHER people of being hypocritical while being completely oblivious to her own hypocrisy. She tries SO HARD to be "independent" and "chill." She even COPIES some of the things I do/say/wear, and makes me completely repulsed to even consider doing/wearing/saying those things again. She is a horrific, fair-weather friend. She puts me down back-handedly, she also puts on an air of pseudo-conceit, and is self-centered beyond belief. She still goes to my school... unfortunately. She is part of my "group" of friends that I do things with/hang out with sometimes, and I go to a small private school that one can't "change" groups... but I wouldnt want to, because I love my real friends. But she is always there. She is condescending to me, she obviously has no respect for me, she talks badly about other people behind their back, she always talks about how cool she is, I just can't stand it. I have no idea how to deal with these two girls because everything they do, everything they are makes me angry and I feel like I have to see them all the time and fake interest and a smile when I see them. i don't want to "ditch" them or be on bad terms, but I have to find a way to cope with them, keep them out of my mind, and not let their obnoxious insecurity, immaturity, and hypocrisy get to me. Any help or advice? Has this ever happened to you in a social circle or school/workplace?

Between him and his wife, they have a truck, cadillac escalade, bmw, and last month he just bought a friggin lamborgini. they also each have there own motorcycle, and they have 4 snowmobiles (one for each of them and then there 2 kids) 2 atvs, a john deere gator, lawn mower (ok thats not bad but i thought id add it anyway) and a large boat and 2 jet skis,and a large generator which powers his entire 4500 square foot house. Need help about maybe my cat getting mange!!?

okay i just rescued a dog from a animal shelter friday. i gave her a bath the next mourning since it was late when we got home and then today i noticed she had red bumps and scabs all over her belly so i took her to a vet. he gave her a shot for itching and some pills for 2 weeks for allergys and i said so this isnt mange that maybe my cat can get??? and then he didnt say anything for a while then finally said he could take a skin craping but its hard to find mange in a skin scraping so then he left the room and came back and said she did look like she had mange (after he gave me the pills and powder for skin and deworming) and said that if it doesnt clear up in a few days to come back so i said lets just treat her for mange now which he said was $35 dipping and he refused!!! he just wants another examination fee. anyways my cat has FIV i love him with everything i have and i am freaking out that if he gets it he might die because when you have something like FIV or HIV the smallest thing can take your life right!?!?! what should i do give my cat a bath incase of? my washing machine just broke today so all of the stuff the dog has touched is sitting there and i caught my cat laying on it im balling here please dont be negative just to be, but someone please tell me the truth on what i should do so my cat doesnt get it. i now i know i shouldnt have gotten a dog but i thought i was saving her life and i cant just go shove her back in the hole she came from but i am keeping her isolated from my cat. i read on a site cats cant get it from a dog unless its touching it frequntly but my cat is a big baby and last night curled up on the couch with me and the new dog and im so scared. i've done so good keeping my cat healthy for so long with this fiv and now this. im so scared. he litterly is my child. what should i do for him to stop it now!?!? btw right before i left the vets boxer(dog) came out and was sniffing my dog and the vet grabbed him by the collar and locked him in a room away from my dog, like hello he even thinks she has mange but wont treat her for it?!?! wtf!!!!! does he not understand i dont want my cats to get it i told him like 5 times and felt like an idiot. he was so unfriendly too and just picked my dog up under her arm and carried her with one of his arms while she wiggled.

What is going on with my sister?

My sister is 17 and a senior in high school and she very well might not graduate. My mom has found out that since the begining of the school year she has missed a total of 128 days of school. I don't know if thats entire days or cles added up all together. We found that she has been sending money to some boy in juvi and I myself used to pay her weekly to do dishes and not only me, but our mom and her dad, and grandparents have been duped into giving her money so she can give it to him. My Mom found a letter she had written him and from what it says she knows a guy in there and she talked to his mom on how to wire money and stuff. She has gone to his court hearings and visited him when her dad is doing errands. I think she is in on her friend's mom and she gets her in. My mom has taken her phone away and her car. Is there something wrong with my sister, or am I just being overly critical?

I'm not a parent, but a sister. I'm 16, and I'm very concerned about my sister, who is a couple months away from being 13, and going into the seventh grade (our middle schools start in 6th, so she's already been in middle school for a year). I may be overreacting, because I've always been fiercely independent, but my sister is going on 13 and can't tie her shoes. She is physically able to, I've seen her tie an apron when cooking, tie a bow on a present, etc., but my mom put on her shoes and socks for her every morning until she was 11, and then my mom put her foot down and refused to do it. After that, my sister refused to wear socks and pulled her sneakers on and off without untying them, and she still does this. She has never brushed or styled her own hair in her life, my mom brushes and styles it for her every morning, usually in a plain ponytail or two braids, nothing complicated, and she knows how to braid hair as well, but she won't do it. She tends to get frustrated and throw a tantrum if she has to try at something (i.e. homework) for any more than half an hour. She also makes sure one of our parents stands at the end of the driveway and watches her walk to the school bus stop, which is only two houses up the street, there are usually about 10-15 other kids there, and we live in a very safe D.C. suburb. She also sleeps with every light in her bedroom turned on. When she was 7, our cousin told her, obviously jokingly, that there was a hobo living in the trunk of our mom's car. She still checks inside the trunk every single time before she gets in the car, and refuses to sit in the third row of seats in the back (it's a minivan). I think she also may have some serious body image issues. She should probably be wearing size medium shirts, but she refuses to wear anything but size XXL. When we go swimming, at the neighborhood pool or even at our lake house, which has a completely private and secluded beach so only other family members are at the beach, she wears a girl's one piece swimsuit, and then puts on boy's swim trunks and a rash guard, essentially going in fully dressed. She used to have a huge group of girls she was really close with, and this year she only wanted to invite two girls to her birthday party. I think her old friends have distanced themselves from her because, well, they all act like 13-year-olds and she acts like she's 7. I tried to bring all of this up with my parents (obviously in private)about a year ago, and they told me to "drop it and stop putting your sister down". Are these serious issues or am I just being overly critical and mean? As I said, maybe I'm overreacting. But my parents are acting as if she's a normal middle schooler and absolutely nothing is wrong. I feel that her behavior really isn't normal or healthy, and I'm really worried about her. If these are serious issues, how do I bring it up with my parents? If they're just going to reject what I'm saying because I'm her sister or because I'm 16, could I do something like talk to an extended family member or our pediatrician, and have them carry the message on? How can i reduce or get rid of the squeak from my box spring and mattress?

Most box spring noise, results from a loose staple holding the "spring embly", to the wooden frame embly. My solutions to similar problems, requires, opening the bottom of the box spring unit, to inspect the interior of the unit. to do that, carefully remove the staples around the parimiter of the box frame, pull back the fabric to expose the underside of the spring embly. carefully check where the metal frame touches the wood (usually where the noise comes from) when you find the loose staple, attempt to re-set the staple, (hammer it back down) or add another "like type staple". you could also have the wooden frame parts loose, requiring tightening loose joints, with glue/screws, and maybe some backup pieces of wood lath, to make the joint stronger. Actually, the least expensive solution, would be to replace the box spring with another. Don't worry about different fabric, just get one the same size, preferrably made by the same manufacturer. Check out some of your local discount mattress companies, they are always discounting mis-matched units

You should get a copy of "The Handbook of English Grammar" published by Little Brown. In any college bookstore if you ask for the Little Brown Handbook they know what it is. It's around $30. In my first year of college I learned more from this book than all the previous years combined. Sorry to be so blunt but, like I said, you have potential but you need to get the grammar down right. Shouldn't "self-education" be rewarded?

For instance: If one chooses to byp college (for whatever purpose, possibly to avoid financial burden, or doesn't have confidence in public education) and instead "self educates". Shouldn't that person be awarded a diploma for on the basis of his knowledge? If, instead of going to college, you go to, say, the library, and read the same books (at least books distributing the same ideas), why shouldn't you get a degree a college student would get? I contend, if a self educated person is denied recognition (e.i diploma) then our education is not based on "education". Think about this, not as a education issue but as common sense issue, if someone doesn't go to college but acquires equivalent (or more) knowledge that is expected from a student, then why should that person also get a diploma? Why can't there be such a thing as diplomas for self education? If the US wants to fix the education system, we need to get serious and think outside of the age old box.

How should I treat these people?

I've started to feel quite upset and more recently angry because it feels as though I am always the one to make the first move with friends but never get it returned. For example it is always me inviting others round to my house for a game of cards or to watch the football or it's always me sending a text to invite someone out for a drink or to go play a game of pool but I just don't seem to ever get it back. I try not to take it personally but I've got to the point where I feel really resentful of them becuase I just don't understand why they seem to be so selfish. I've even mentioned it in a jokey light-hearted way and then at times in a more serious manner but it just doesn't seem to make any difference. Lately I've started wondering if it is just me or do I just have a group of friends who aren't actually as much of a friend to me as I'd like to think they are. I have this problem that I just can't shake. My stepmom has this HP pavilion a1730n desktop PC she thought hard drive crashed on her. So,she bought another one. It just happened to be something else. So now,she let me get her PC to fix(and I did)and now,I have this extra 320GB hard drive staring in my face!!! I put it in my E520 and it started to come on and then a bluescreen flashed. So,I put it in her PC and ran a wipe drive program on it. Now that it's a blank hard drive,could I be able to use it?! And what must I do to get it to work for me?! It's an Western Digital Caviar SE16 hard drive. The pins on it matches up with my E520 Seagate Barracuda hard drive exactly. Please help. It would be ashame to just toss it... Thanks a bunch!!
