Can I use an 320GB Western Digital hard drive in my Dell E520?

I have this problem that I just can't shake. My stepmom has this HP pavilion a1730n desktop PC she thought hard drive crashed on her. So,she bought another one. It just happened to be something else. So now,she let me get her PC to fix(and I did)and now,I have this extra 320GB hard drive staring in my face!!! I put it in my E520 and it started to come on and then a bluescreen flashed. So,I put it in her PC and ran a wipe drive program on it. Now that it's a blank hard drive,could I be able to use it?! And what must I do to get it to work for me?! It's an Western Digital Caviar SE16 hard drive. The pins on it matches up with my E520 Seagate Barracuda hard drive exactly. Please help. It would be ashame to just toss it... Thanks a bunch!!
