Yeah, it's true. The reason they didn't put that kiss in the movie was because it took away from the moment that the REAL kiss happened. Think about it, if you saw that kiss before the actual one, you wouldn't have been quite as amazed. Stephenie Meyer agreed that it was unlike something Bella and Edward would do anyway, even in a dream sequence.
