Why do people not realize Sollomon was the greatest fool that ever lived?

God did make him the wisest man who ever lived when he asked for wisdom to run the nation. Solomon historically was very politically successful, there and in relations with neighboring nations, keeping peace and bringing great prosperity to the region. But yes, apparently the wisdom was limited to that aspect of his thinking because he indulged in the extreme in many areas in his personal life that he knew were sins, and it made him look foolish (teaching us how not to live).
